Cooking game

This interactive eLearning prototype explores how game-based learning can support care staff with everyday domestic tasks. Many care workers have excellent caring and interpersonal skills, but may need additional support with practical activities such as making cups of tea, preparing simple meals, or following step-by-step kitchen routines. This prototype focuses on one simple task: teaching learners how to make a cup of tea in the correct order.

The learner must complete the task by making appropriate choices in sequence. For example, they need to fill the kettle before boiling it, and they can only pour boiling water into the cup rather than cold water. The activity also includes flexible but realistic choices: the teabag can be added either before or after the boiling water, sugar can be added at any time, but milk can only be added once both the teabag and boiling water are in the cup.

The prototype was built without JavaScript, using only Storyline triggers, variables, and object states. This allowed me to create a responsive learning interaction where the course checks the learner’s decisions, prevents incorrect actions, and reinforces the correct process. As a portfolio piece, it demonstrates my ability to design simple interactive simulations that turn practical everyday skills into active, choice-based learning.
